How Live GPS works—and when it turns off.

Treelocity’s Live GPS module (in the Established plan) is designed to help dispatchers coordinate active crews without tracking employees off the clock or on break.

Enforced in both the crew phone app and the server-side location service.

Employee privacy safeguards

Four rules baked into the crew app

1. Explicit in-app notice and acknowledgment required first

Before the crew app ever requests or transmits a single GPS coordinate, the signed-in employee is shown a clear notice explaining when location is shared and must explicitly acknowledge it.

2. Active-clock gate: zero tracking before clock-in or after clock-out

Location updates are accepted only while the employee has an active, open timesheet clock on a visit. Clocking out stops transmission immediately and clears live map visibility.

3. Hidden during breaks

When a crew member taps Start Break on their timesheet, location sharing pauses and the office map hides their pin until they resume work.

4. Visible status indicator and staleness cutoff

Whenever Live GPS is active, the crew app displays a persistent visible indicator on screen. Stale coordinates are automatically hidden from the office view.
